Our solution
 
Phased Array technology involves the use of multiple ultrasonic elements and the application of electronic time delays to the individual elements. In this way, beams can be electronically steered, scanned, swept and focused, thereby enhancing performance accuracy and minimizing the time
needed to carry out inspection procedures.
 
Beam forming permits selected beam angles to be optimized by orienting them perpendicular to possible defects. This is a valuable advantage in detecting and sizing of e.g. Lack of Fusion in welds.
 
Applications of advanced Phased Array techniques include weld inspection on vessels, piping and objects with complex geometries, as well as corrosion mapping. Reliable and fast results can also be obtained from nozzle weld and turbine component inspections, as well as from flange seals, shafts
and axles. Phased array also supports accurate assessment of potential problem areas such as stress corrosion cracking.

Phased Array Cobra scanner for small diameters
 
With the COBRA manual scanner we are able to inspect standard pipes as small as 0.84 in. OD to 4.5 in. OD.
 
The scanner can hold two phased array probes for a complete inspection of the weld in one pass for pipe-pipe welds. For pipe to component inspections, the scanner can be quickly configured to make one-sided inspections with only one probe.
 
With its very slim design, this manual scanner inspects pipes in limited access areas where minimal clearance is required. Adjacent obstructions such as piping, supports and structures can be as close as 0.5 in.
